High school football: Southmoore’s Casey Thompson growing up fast

BY SCOTT WRIGHTMOORE — If you watched a Southmoore game from last year, then the one from last week, you might not think it's really the same kid at quarterback.
It certainly doesn't look like the same offense that sophomore quarterback Casey Thompson is piloting.
A year ago, Southmoore coaches eased the freshman Thompson into varsity football, not asking him to throw the ball down field too much, and limiting his exposure in the run game.
But through two games this season, the chains are off, and Thompson is flying free.
“I definitely feel like I have a lot more freedom on the field,” said Thompson, The Oklahoman's staff selection as the city-area High School Football Player of the Week.Read more on NewsOK.com
