Morning Roundup: Johnny Bench to make appearance before OKC Dodgers game

Hall of Fame catcher and Binger native Johnny Bench is returning to his native state Saturday night.
Bench, along with retiring Baseball Hall of Fame president Jeff Idelson and photographer Jean Fruth, will make an appearance during the Oklahoma City Dodgers’ game against Round Rock to promote Grassroots Baseball, participate in a youth clinic and a book signing.
Bench will throw out the ceremonial first pitch before the game and then join Idelson and Fruth on the concourse to sign copies of the book, “Grassroots Baseball: Where Legends Begin.” Copies of the book will be available in the team store.
The trio will also participate in a youth baseball clinic at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark at 4:30 p.m.
Idelson and Fruth founded Grassroots Baseball to promote and celebrate the amateur game around the globe, focusing on growing interest and participation at the youngest levels.Read more on NewsOK.com
