Oklahoma City rabbi gives High Holy Day call to action regarding Syrian refugees

Carla HintonAs the sun set tonight, Sunday, Sept. 13, an Oklahoma City rabbi made a special plea for Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year .
Rabbi Vered Harris, spiritual leader of Temple B’nai Israel, is among 125 rabbis with the Reform Judaism movement in the U.S. and Canada, who are asking their congregations to urge the nation’s elected leaders to allow more Syrian refugees into the U.S.
Harris said her sermon tonight, the first night of Rosh Hashana, focused on the plight of the Syrian refugees, among other U.S. and global concerns .
She said she urged members of her temple to sign a petition endorsing their support for admitting more Syrian refugees into America and calling on Congress to include funding for more refugees. Read more on NewsOK.com
